Relationships as Service
If you are purely interested in meeting some need of your own, it is usually easier and less frustrating to purchase it directly for money or some other valuable exchange. A relationship offers an opportunity to serve another on their path. When you choose service as a path for the joy of giving then meeting other's needs becomes a step on that path. When this is done with honest joy it is not a step into martyrhood.
Action: Be up front about your needs and invite your partner to do the same. When those needs diverge, commit first to the win of each other, and consider whether a re-invention or ending the relationship out of generosity will serve you best. If you choose service as a path you have the option of giving gifts that do not directly benefit your interests other than that it allows you the joy of walking the talk of service.
