Perceiving Depth
Something can be learned by the fact that we were given a pair of eyes, not just one. Two eyes are more valuable than one precisely because they do not see the same thing. Our ability to perceive depth comes from the fact that we have the ability in our brain to synthesize two slightly different perspectives and in doing so add a third dimension that is implied by the gap between what each eye sees, but is not visible to either of them. Each pair of eyes – the further they are from one another, can bring a perception of depth like nothing else. As we embrace another human beings perspective we add dimension to what can otherwise be a very flat existence.
