Owning Our Lineage

While on the surface we are individual beings, functioning in isolated pods of free will, the depths of this perception goes back only about a hundred years. For thousands of years prior our ancestors in cultures across the world saw the value and connection between the individual and their bloodline, and birth place and community.

As important as the gifts of freedom are that come from our free will, we cannot escape the influence of our ancestry in it’s most profound and undetectable of forms. We carry large chunks of the DNA, mental and  emotional program of our parents, who in turn carry the programs of their parents. The gifts and liabilities of such programs are something we are empowered to recognize and own as a part of who we are.

At the deepest levels, our ancestors live on in us, in all of their imperfect beauty. Negotiating this influence is an important step in creating the space we need to be ourselves, and in bringing the healing we long at a deep level to bring to our blood line.

My best work with this has been done with the support of Shamans who can support me in connecting with the ancestry within me and help me hear it’s voice. As I am conscious of the voices, I am empowered to dialog with a powerful influence within my life. As I dialog, I am empowered to influence my ancestry as well as be conscious of the ways I am influenced by it. The level of transformation that is possible when this work is done in a good way is profound in my experience. Finding the right time and people within your life to do the work is part of our journey.

Action: Ask yourself: do you feel ready to do the deep work of healing and reconciling with your lineage? If yes, begin the process of finding partners to support you in this work. Shaman’s can be found among psychics, healers, empath’s and intuitive partners, among others.
