Our Modern Myths
The function of mythology is not just to entertain, but to inform us of the complex array of relationships unfolding within our psyches. As our culture has moved away from it's focus on and ability to integrate these epic tales, a new language of myth has emerged in the form of technology which can serve as an equally powerful metaphor to what is happening inside us.
Our technology is born as a reflection of the way we think and feel, and as such can provide insight to who we are that is as valuable as the tools they are in shaping our outer world.
Computers are a particularly valuable tool in understanding energetic dynamics between people, as well as the potential for conceiving viruses. Computers are energetic machines, running programs, connecting through the ethers, and frequently corrupted by a host of ever adapting viruses. Protection in the form of fire walls, awareness, trusted senders, and virus protection are all valuable tools in our need to maintain conscious healthy boundaries. Without them, our operating system slows down, malfunctions, eats up positive programs, or divulges information that could let others cross our boundaries, steal our identity and/ or exploit our assets. Ring any bells?
Everything that happens to our computers can also happen within our selves. It is as important to protect our selves with the same discipline and attention we willingly extend to our computers. When your energy suddenly gets sluggish, do you beat myself up for running on half energy, or get professional help and expel the virus you have picked up by hanging around others who dump on you?
Stepping back a moment, one of the greatest challenges we all face is finding our selves, our true essence, within the container of societal and parental programming. Given how influenced we are by the beliefs, DNA and past experience provided us by the world around us, how can we know who we truly are? Given the infectious nature of all energy, how do we know when we are feeling our feelings, thinking our thoughts and choosing our own beliefs as apposed to somebody else’s?
I have found the answer to some of these questions receiving energy and psychic sessions by capable shamans. I also find value in taking classes designed to bring consciousness to how I manage my energy in relation to others. Learning to clear my space, ground, detect unhealthy attachment to others, and break agreements I have made in order to survive my past is a deeply fulfilling and valuable part of this journey.
Action: Consider receiving a session with a professional with a goal of clearing out energetic connections with others that slow you down or cause you to crash.
